Instead of Living with Fear

Playing with Fear by Lidia Kenig-Scher

Today I like to focus on the elephant in the room: FEAR.

Unless you have been hiding underground, you will have noticed that a large segment of our neighbors, friends, co-workers and family are experiencing fear to such an extent that many are changing vacation plans, adding security systems to their homes, avoid large gatherings and make it a point to talk to their children about safety. In fact, ads for bulletproof school bags are again ubiquitous and demands for legislators to enact laws that control gun ownership and access to assault weapons reached a fever pitch while traditional and social media forums are filled with anger, fear and despair.

Here in the United States, we are a nation fiercely divided, with each faction blaming the other for their woes. It is all happening amidst a presidential primary election season where over 20 candidates vie for attention in order to qualify for the next round of debates and an incumbent president has chosen to fan the flames of division and fear as a re-election strategy.

It all got crystallized when once again, two unconscious individuals took it upon themselves and went to great lengths, to commit genocide inspired by the idea that some groups of people have more rights to live in this country than others. Both killers felt validated by the constant replay of divisive rhetoric.

While conflict is unavoidable and potentially enriching, how we think about it will determine if we become richer for it or are so emotionally and spiritually crippled that we fail to physically thrive.

On March 1933, a beleaguered nation heard president Franklin D. Roosevelt say in his inaugural speech“So first of all let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself-nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes the needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” FDR himself had narrowly avoided the bullets of a would-be assassin, two weeks before he spoke these words to a country in the throes of the most severe depression the United States has ever known.

Many in the business community at that time, feeling pinched by the economic decline equated the nation with an invalid afflicted with a mental problem; a paralysis of action. This thinking somehow had to be turned around, toward positive confidence.

Julius Barnes, the Chairman of the Board of the National Chamber of Commerce suggested such metaphor, positing that by changing the “patient’s” thinking, the body would naturally recover its mobility. President Roosevelt became the much needed mental healer for the body nation at that time.

Current research suggests that Mr Barnes was quite accurate in his assertions.

I have no desire to run for president, join the shouters or deliver lofty pronouncements, and we have not yet found an FDR for our times, but I concur that the nucleus of our societal problem lies in WHAT we think and the actions that follow our thinking. Thoughts are real forces and this has been known for millennia.

Our thoughts affect our vibrational field and in turn we affect all who surround us in a viral contagion. Whether or not we accept that we are interconnected, all we have to do is look around; open Facebook or turn on the television, check in with suicidal hotlines and speak with psychotherapists.

Instead of complaining, I have taken the quiet yet industrious route, I create sacred objects that help people, slowly over time, to notice their life patterns, become conscious and shift their thinking toward a more inclusive, compassionate and benevolent existence. When I help people install their commissioned Door Protectors, I teach them how to use the art we co-created to derive the maximum benefit. I remind them that it is like a mirror they can rely upon to reflect their true selves. I suggest they aim their gaze inward and see that fear and anger arise when they imagine a future that does not exist or recall past occurrences that are long gone.

The mantra at the center of this Door Protector is the same mantra that the historical Buddha taught 2600 years ago when he was teaching about building a wholesome and fulfilling life. It’s called the Wish Granting Jewel Mantra.

The Buddha noticed that when his disciples learned, chanted the mantra and were present to its sound and meaning, they became enlightened on the spot. That is because each of the 12 syllables are seeds of the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path; the most important tenets at the core of Buddhist philosophy.

The mantra was the Buddha’s way to remind us of our own light and the wisdom that we carry…always. When we look upon the mantra, or hear it, we feel its vibration at our core.

Everything has a vibration and an energy field.

We do not need to be Buddhists to accept Door Protectors into our lives. We simply need to connect to its vibration and through practice, deeply connect with its energy. It happens because what I paint for the owners is channeled through meditation and propelled by my conscious intention to be such conduit for maximum benefit.

I am a better person because I work with my Door Protector and the mantra every day of my life. The testimony of hundreds of clients and collectors for the past 12 years caused me to pause and take note of their effect on people and environments. Everyone has had amazing results in many areas of their lives. They tell me that above all, they are no longer ruled by FEAR and that it has become an easy practice to check-in when in the presence of conflicts, questions and the need to make important decisions.

Some feel truly enlightened!

Thus, I have committed to have as many Door Protectors as possible into people’s homes and businesses, as they affect the owners and all those who see it and pass under it. Instead of living with fear, click on the link in this paragraph, above to commission your own or go the the website Gallery to order a print of your choice and start working with its energies.

The commissioned sacred art carries us throughout our lives. Prints have shown to work for a period of time-months or a couple of years, and help with prescient matters. A print works because in instinctively selecting one, we make an important connection through the images, that will be helpful in our life at this moment in our life path.

Prints are a good way to experience working with Door Protectors.

Connecting with the Immeasurable Love of the Universe

Door Protector to place above door- Dangelbig
Dangelbig Door Protector by Lidia Kenig-Scher

The newest Door Protector was created for a professional couple in their late thirties, whose new home located in a semi-rural town west of Boston I helped designed.

Like all Door Protectors, it started with receiving a written statement from each person, preparing the support and meditating. And while both partners expressed their desire to experience harmony and be aligned with all things, the art did not seem to readily find the images that would invite those sentiments.

I started by doing an intuitive divination, invited some crystal allies and animal spirits and consulted various oracles, yet I was unable to move the art forward for quite a long time.

After the crystals I ordered arrived and the wood panel was ready to accept paint, I began by applying a Prussian blue coat of acrylic paint and when dried, I mixed in different amounts of Titanium white to create a variety of curling swirls that stretched and moved in all directions.  A hot pink hue showed up on the palette and a soft brush helped them merge, twist and blend with the toned blues.

For the next 3 months and in spite of chanting the mantra, eagerly contemplating the canvas and summoning all my guides; nothing else showed up.  As I had similar experiences while creating other Door Protectors, I reached out to the clients several times to inquire if there was anything I should know, if there had ben any arguments, or events that may have caused anxiety, concern and conflict. Upon receiving confirmation, and still nothing was happening, I sent an email to the couple, offering a new way of thinking about the art we were co-creating.

We acknowledged that Lillie (not her real name) was expecting her first child and this was the last trimester of her pregnancy. Fears and doubts became hard to ignore, coupled with the physical symptoms of tiredness, irritability with a very demanding work situation and natural frustrations with the on-going renovations in the new home. The husband, Paul (not his real name) who maintains a strong spiritual practice was also struggling with his own feelings about the impending responsibilities while attempting to reassure Lillie. The email and subsequent phone call finally worked!

The next day, a pure zinc white area appeared where the Wish Granting Jewel mantra is inscribed and was crowned by a bright yellow hue lined with an orange ribbon. A deep red line now supports the hot pink spirals, as if it is keeping the confusion at bay and reassuring the couple that everything would be alright. The reassurance is aided by nuggets of Carnelian within the blue.  This is the crystal of trust, inner resolve and wisdom. It helps dispel background confusion like in the art, while in the foreground, playful Spring grasses sporting tiny blooms daintily reach toward the mantra and the sunlight.

A Lepidolite crystal is crowned by a raw Azurite stone and sits right beneath the syllables corresponding to ushnisha vimale, which translates as the “stainless lotus of Ushnisha.” This is the name of the Buddha in the manifestation of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of limitless compassion. The Ushnisha is the oval topknot often depicted in art on top of a Buddha’s head symbolizing the spiritual power of attaining enlightenment. The lilac Lepidolite crystal is an excellent stress relief stone. It contains lithium, which soothes and calms the body/mind continuum, reduces anxiety, stress and signs of depression. It assists in maintaining an attitude of acceptance of the present moment. Azurite is the stone of inner vision and insight, enhances intellectual functions and helps the mind retain information. It confers awareness to discern where we get stuck in outmoded mental constructs and self-deception, as well as alerts us when someone is not acting or speaking truthfully.

Each syllable in the mantra represents core Buddhist teachings that along with the pictorial symbols continuously emit positive and wholesome vibrations into the space where it is installed. As the people who occupy the space connect with the art, their door protector becomes a mirror of their souls and find opportunities to connect with the immeasurable love of the universe; the divine realm. Every time they see or think of their art, they are more able to abide in joy and gratitude, they come to know that everything is sacred, feel at peace and are protected within this love energy.

The more people intentionally gaze at the art they helped create, the more they recognize the interbeingness inherent in all things and begin to experience unconditional love. The art gives people who own it the opportunity to be conscious beings able to learn, grow and change and act and think as the spark of divine light on earth that they actually are.

And everything did turn out all right. A few days ago, a beautiful baby girl was delivered without complications and joined her truly joyous parents. Please join me in wishing that life continue to unfold for this threesome, with myriads of fortunate blessings!

You too can commission your mirror of the soul. Click on Door Protectors for more information on how to order one.

Dancing to the Rites of Spring

SFT Door Protector by Lidia Kenig-Scher

Created for a couple who collects very unique art and live in a home designed by a star architect, this Door Protector was commissioned to assist them in living consciously, freely, creatively, and compassionately. They desire to age gracefully by bringing light and wisdom’s insights into their lives, deepen their relationship and permeate all other relationships and endeavors with such qualities. They hoped that the art would help them nurture and embody their values, assist them in empowering their intuition and inspire them to own and express their creative talents. In fact, the wife said that she was ready to take one of her dream projects to a deeper level.

A new Door Protector begins by gathering the client’s statements and payment along with the pre-selected surface, also known as supports, and then I bring all of it into a deep meditation that is followed by a contemplative focus on the people who commissioned the art. Working with various divination tools, which include cards, crystals and animal spirits I end the session with a silent intuitive reading.  I listen deeply for patterns, meaning and guidance and complete the initial work by purchasing the stones and preparing the surface. Sometimes I must wait for crystals to arrive while the prepared canvas or support sits within my altar, but the blank canvas becomes part of my daily meditation until I am moved to begin painting.

Daily meditation continues, respecting the timing and the process, as I am always attuned to the guidance I receive. I found that when several days go by and nothing shows up on the canvas, I am urged to connect with the client and inquire about their lives so that in facilitating the understanding of a difficult issue, they may help get the images flowing. I talk about aspects of the intuitive reading and invariably, our conversation uncovers events and situations that gripped them. I reassure them that what they are experiencing is part of the process of birthing their Door Protector. I explain that with their thoughts, beliefs and emotions, they are creating the sacred art through me and I invite them to release the resolutions to the higher power that oversees the creation of the piece.

And just as invariably, after the intervention, the images begin to flow on the canvas! By turning their attention on the artwork I am painting for them, the clients and I are co-creating with Spirit.

While working on the Door Protector featured here, and seeing that nothing was showing up for several weeks, I called the client and she confessed that she had been distracted, confused and worried about upcoming pre-planned trips and the impact that one of them, a solo journey, would have in her life. She was also worried about her husband’s health and the outcome of a planned, but potentially difficult surgery.

Alas, our chat seemed to help, because the next day images began to appear on the surface, and within a short time the art was completed and installed, just before the first trip!

Behold the images in the SFT Door Protector, where a magical sun-dappled forest provides the perfect backdrop for the Wish Granting Jewel mantra, appearing to emanate from the sun’s rays and bringing forth the light and wisdom of the ancient syllables.  The trees seem to joyously sway to the sound of Igor Stravinsky’s Rites of Spring, prompting all who behold the art to dance to their authentic rhythms.

Tall peaks rise on the left, in the foreground, with a raw Cuprite crystal embedded in to assist the clients in connecting with the grounding and nourishing earth energies and offering the reassurance that all is well; always.

A Rhodonite stone sits at the bottom near the center to remind the couple of the love they share and teaching them to love and appreciate who they are individually. A mountain path strewn with Aquamarine chips helps them reflect on their resolve, offers calmness and flow and as the road dips into the water, it provides clarity and inspires truth in living, provided that they release outmoded mental constructs and allow in the aid of a higher power.

Door Protectors are designed to be installed above a home’s front door, the physical element that provides a clear transition between the outside world and the inner sanctum of a dwelling. Many, many owners of this art report that seeing it upon entering or leaving their space provides everyone, even those who pass under it, with a reassuring sense of safety and well-being. By regularly connecting to their art, owners tell me that they feel at ease at home or within their business. Openness and trust, enables their chosen intentions to manifest in an even better form than anyone could have imagined. They learned that the Universe has their backs and will present them with a broader vision than any human mind could see.

The owners of this Door Protector report that every planned trip unfolded wonderfully, that the woman’s solo trip proved to be more fruitful than she had anticipated and that the husband’s operation was a total success.

I Don’t Really Create these Artworks…

K J Door Protector by Lidia Kenig
K J Door Protector by Lidia Kenig

Every time I create one of these sacred artifacts I call Door Protectors, I marvel at how they affect me and the clients who commissioned it. Over the past 8 years I collected stories ranging from uncovering an illness and healing it, to dramatic career changes. I heard of powerful shifts in relationship status and unexpected moves. I even read that the Door Protector halted years of vandalism and uninvited rodents in a seasonal dwelling. More recently, a client reported that during a devastating hurricane, while the entire neighborhood was flooded, miraculously their home experienced minor damages. Another individual whose apartment unit was below a severely damaged penthouse found that only a couch was affected by the water and debris pouring from above.

Because the creation of the piece is deeply connected to its owners from the moment they think about it or order it. I learned to be patient with the process. I know that when the art is not progressing smoothly, the client is experiencing doubts, setbacks or conflicts. In those times, I simply chant the mantra in the art’s presence and focus on the client until I am guided to make the next move.

Occasionally, if nothing happens for a few weeks, I reach out to the client to identify the issues and reassure them, present options or suggest alternate ways of perceiving the situation. Then the colors, textures, and shapes begin to arrange and unveil themselves until the sacred art is completed and installed.

The art above is no exception.

After the initial burst of action when fiery red appeared on top from a combination of soft-bodied acrylics and acrylic inks, the golden-yellow streak and the rose-colored bottom took shape.     But when it came time to write the Wish Granting Jewel mantra, none of the brand new pens I had just purchased worked!

I considered going out to exchange them, thinking that they may be defective, when I heard my phone ping, indicating that a message had arrived. I never answer my phone and it is never in the studio when I paint, but I was moved to read what came through this time and indeed, it was from the client. She wrote that her momentum of positive energy had halted, felt stuck and couldn’t seem to move forward.  “It’s like I have no juice in me”, she wrote.

You can imagine that I decided to call her, and after 30 to 40 minutes of listening and providing alternative ways of looking at her situation, also telling her about attempting to write the mantra, but the pens had “no juice”, she laughed heartily, felt complete and at peace.

Without skipping a beat, I picked up the black pen and completed writing. I then added the gold-leaf layer and within 15 minutes, the mantra was perfectly inscribed. Relaying these results to the client was a way of reaffirming the non-physical aspects of our co-creation and Spirit’s intervention leading her to reach out and assisting me in moving the process forward.

A few sessions later, the pair of flying turtles bearing jewels and flanking the mantra appeared and was followed by the client texting me about a dream in where she was in Hawaii looking through her ancestral roots. I then knew that these were the revered Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles known as Honu, symbols of good luck, endurance and long life. In this case, they were identifying themselves as the client’s guardian spirits and were in the art to help her, when lost or confused, to find the way to her inner home; our truest home.

As you can see, I don’t really create the art. The client’s intentions are heard by the Universe and channeled through me into a sacred tool able to keep the person who owns it in her power, and centered in the intrinsic meaning of the mantra’s 12 syllables: OM PAD MO USHNISHA VIMALE HUM PHAT, said to vibrate with the Buddhist Eightfold Path of wholesome living.

Feel free to read more Door Protector stories published throughout the blog and perhaps you will decide to commission your very own artwork. It will be your faithful servant, maybe the perfect mirror you can look at when you are lost or confused to guide you to your inner home, listen to your heart and live life to the fullest.  See below, the client’s reaction upon receiving this painting.

As I have learned, a selected print works very well for navigating prescient issues. The personalized art stays with its owners for an entire life, supporting people through each cycle of growth.

You will find available prints, in the Door Protector gallery. They also make great gifts. You are welcome to email me and request a gift certificate for the purpose. If you like to order your very own sacred art, learn more in the Door Protector Purchase information tab.

Out of the Fog

AB Door Protector by Lidia Kenig-Scher
AB Door Protector by Lidia Kenig-Scher

The gray clouds recede and as the sky clears, brilliant blue hues appear.

The fog vanishes at the edge of the world, unveiling an iridescent gold mandala edged by puffy hearts.

The steady and pulsating energy at the center of the mandala causes additional hearts to be released spreading into the vastness of space and gathering at the top to form a crown.

Like the sun’s corona (crown), the aura of plasma that extends into space and is most easily seen during a total eclipse; this mandala/sun brings forth sudden explosions of pure love from its steady and calm nucleus.

This sun’s explosions are called coronal mass ejections, and in this Door protector, the powerful particles arrange themselves into the Tibetan syllables of the Wish Granting Jewel mantra.

As the mantra unfolds, it releases whimsical beings that joyously dance or happily and confidently perform acrobatics.

The black figures balance a Carnelian crystal on their heads with grace and ease. Carnelian is the stone of inspired action. The other figures hold aloft Citrines, the crystal of success, prosperity and joy. There are no leaders or followers in this group. Each contribute their unique skills and talents and all acknowledge themselves as divine beings capable of bringing peace and harmony to the world.

This Door Protector invites transformation and reassures its owner that the change will be joyous-the funny beings; if he allows the veils of illusion, incorrect perceptions, and conditioning to burn away like fog and be replaced by the bright light of awareness; the mantra’s teachings and the influence of the crystals.

Aaron’s parents own a Door Protector and his father has a print hanging in his very corporate office. So the recent college graduate requested a sacred art for himself to help with transitioning, and to cultivate the necessary frame of mind and attitude to find a clear direction for his life, select work that he loved, encounter prosperity and be surrounded with love.

As I worked on the art, I noticed that at times the colors, textures and shapes flowed easily, while there were periods when it all simply stalled. Toward the end I was surprised when some of the script smeared, and I had to re write it. When I checked in with Aaron*, we realized that the stalled times coincided with periods of doubt and confusion, and that the smears appeared when he feared sliding back into self-destructive behaviors.

When I installed the art Aaron confessed that even though I had mentioned that what I paint comes from him, the “coincidences” caused him to emotionally re-center. He was now able to trust the guidance from a higher power, and recognized the gifts of awareness behind each of his actions.

Aaron knew that his art reflected not only who he was, but who he was committed to evolve, as he matured.  This young man was ready to carry his art as a personal mirror to his summer residence, trusting that if he focused on the mandala’s center when doubts arose, becoming centered in his own “sun” would be easier. And that by contemplating the mantra’s lessons during his daily meditation practice; the path he needs to travel in this lifetime would become clear.  Thereafter, the Door Protector would move with him wherever he went.

The nascent knowingness Aaron was experiencing would spur him to take inspired action and manifest his dreams. And because he embraced his ability to bring groups of people together in harmonious creativity, he would be rewarded with ample examples of grace manifesting in his life.

If you lack clarity, doubt the direction you are traveling in life or engage in addictive behaviors, you may decide to mimic Aaron and commission your own sacred art. You can go to Ordering a Door Protector and read about the differences between originals and prints, make a choice and perhaps read more stories about this sacred art and the people who work and live with them for many years now, elsewhere on this blog.

A Humbling Retreat

The signs were all there. I slept poorly, I was still tired when I awoke, the studios were in disarray and I had to scramble to clean up and tidy them in time for each class.

I began to hide papers for a “later review”, and reviewing didn’t happen. One day I noticed that commissions that heretofore poured in, began to trickle.

The many other things in my life that slowed to a halt caught my attention, especially when I did not feel like painting.

Was I depressed? Did I contract an illness?

A skimpily attended street fair last week helped me decide that I was not energetically balanced and that a retreat may allow for whatever needed to be released to surface, then heal it and integrate it into my life.

As I consider dis-ease a sign of imbalance and misalignment in the body-mind-energy field continuum, I knew that disregarding what was happening may seriously endanger my life.

I decided to fast and meditate for as long as I needed, and started by preparing a familiar lemonade drink called Master Cleanse. The next day I sluggishly got up to swallow warm salted water and later had the first of the 7 lemonade glasses I intended to consume, plus several cups of green tea and 2 spoonfuls of olive oil.

Lidia Door Protector

Sitting in silence in front of my personal Door Protector, I allowed sadness, anger, negative thoughts and behaviors to surface. I simply watched, as I had no answers. Several hours must have gone by before I took a nap, had more drinks and went outside for some fresh air.

I consulted the Ancient Chinese Oracle I-Ching, which confirmed that I had been following a negative thought pattern that yielded likewise behaviors, compounded by old stories playing in the background.  I needed to stop this trend with an attitude reboot.

Day 2 was a combination of lemonade, tea, olive oil, walks, showers and deep meditation to begin healing what Eckhart Tolle calls “the pain body”; the emotional hurts  accumulated from negative emotions not faced, accepted, and released when they arose and that eventually become a semi-autonomous psychic entity.

Chanting, meditations, card readings and crystal allies, while facing my Door Protector, offered healing suggestions. But no clear guidelines as to how to integrate all that had surfaced.

On the cusp of Summer Solstice I connected with my wonderful coach and BFFF– extra F for Fairy godmother.  I always find in her a heart filled with love and compassion, wisdom beyond this world, and a mutually nourishing vessel. We agreed to talk the next morning and I went to sleep.

I knew I slumbered deeply when I awoke disoriented. But the sun was shining when I did my morning rituals in front of my altar followed by a sincere desire to heal. I picked 2 crystals from the original reading and the card I pulled was still puzzling. It was The Master.

Sitting by my sacred art I was ready for Coach Kimberly, who has the uncanny ability to hold space for what needs to unfold in her client’s life, judgment free. I began to see clearly that regardless of any praise I receive, or accolades I garner from collectors and students, I tend to disregard or downplay them. I saw that I dislike getting gifts, and that when faced with compliments, my old stories resurface to deny merit to my intuition, my actions and my feelings. When I receive compliments, I assign them to my superb skill set, God’s working through me, or sheer luck.

I realized that in denying the wisdom that came from my life experience, or in judging myself pompous when I rejoice in what others think of me, I became misaligned with my nature. I saw that in giving credit to my schooling when I successfully completed a design project, or when my students were grateful for lessons I taught them, I was actually implying that I do not matter.  When I view my client’s milestones after a Feng Shui consultation, or when they mention receiving benefits from my artworks, and assign this to my ability to let Spirit work through me; I am denying my Divinity.

Integration ensued when I owned my unique wisdom and aligned with the purpose I was born to fulfill. It happened when I committed to release the past and its shackles, opened my heart wider and embraced the pain body, while affirming that it is because of the sorrow that I am now a being of light able to offer its brilliance to others, fly skies of freedom by creating, and stand firm on the earth through deep human connections.

The 3-day retreat was deeply humbling and nourishing. I am grateful for my Door Protector and for my BFFF. You can read more about Door Protectors, commission your own or purchase a blessed print.

Divine and wise me looks forward to a new commission received today!

Be Safe: Stay Grounded, Respect Your Path and Open Your Heart

Linda M Door Protector by Lidia Kenig-Scher
Linda M Door Protector by Lidia Kenig-Scher

The latest Door Protector was installed 2 weeks ago and my client reports seeing significant energy shifts in her life.  The movement actually started as soon as she commissioned it.

A well respected body-centered psychotherapist and much admired singer and song-writer, Linda M. ordered the sacred art as an important relationship was ending. And in creating the intention statement for the art, she was able to quickly see the learning that this relationship had brought her and effectively integrate the experience into her life.

Now she was eager to explore the many new possibilities for growth.

It was not a surprise that in my preliminary divination process I saw Hummingbird as her guiding animal spirit. Those who possess the medicine of this tiny but powerful bird dwell in Joy, can spend quality time in stillness, and are sources of hope and renewal for those who need it. They remain soft, adaptable and trusting knowing that Life loves them.

The card appeared upside down suggesting that although Linda has a strong meditation practice, is a fantastic mentor to musicians and an effective therapist, she may need time to fully embrace her gifts and talents, explore her dreams and commit to follow her intuition, sensing that a greater force is always supporting her.

My job in creating her art was to provide Linda with visual symbols that would help her to lean in, yet step back and admire the wealth of what she already has, while at the same time, remind her to “freely fly among Life’s flowers and partake of their sweet nectar”. This would insure that her heart remains open and that her gifts become a source of joy and abundance for all.

The three crystals that appeared further in the reading and are now on the Door Protector gave me strong guidance.

Cuprite, the triangle at the bottom of the art is a great grounding mineral; affirming that all we need is always provided for when we are rooted in the stillness of the earth and are grateful for all we have.

Charoite is the lilac colored stone in the middle, reinforcing that our skills and talents are in fact what allows us to walk our path of service. This ally’s energy helps us stay on our path and speak our truth.

Rhodonite is the heart’s healer reminding us that it is only by loving ourselves fully, that we can manifest love from others, as well as abundance and well-being for all.

These crystals form the focal point in the transformative cycle of a beautiful starry night into the dawning of a new day. The rising sun is crowned by the Wish Granting Jewel mantra, bestowing its blessings of unconditional love, balance, joy, gratefulness, right thinking, right speech, right concentration, and right action for the benefit of all and embedding these “nectars of truth” on garlands of magnificent flowers streaming through the stones.

When the client consciously connects with the vibrational energy of the symbols; in times of sorrow or pleasure, she will receive the essence of what the art carries: that wherever she is, it is the right path fully supported by benevolent Universal forces, helping her feel safe and protected from harm.

When she looks at her Door Protector installed above her front door, Linda can allow her life to unfold, while feeling whole, powerful and grateful.

Limited edition embellished prints of this art are available in the Door Protectors Gallery. Or you can commission a personalized art, by following the instructions on the Purchase Info Tab

What They Did for Love

After a very busy weekend I found myself reflecting on the past weeks’ events and noticed that in my conversations with clients and friends, there was a running theme; women were experiencing transformative awakenings.

I also noticed that many of them owned Door Protectors for various lengths of time and some spoke of decisions made shortly after the art’s installation.

This morning as I looked at the pieces owned by the women I had recently visited along with others whose situations I knew well. I noticed that all the stories lined up as examples of them finding their voices, or the necessary strength to face and move through relationships and life situations that held them hostage.

In each case, they were all seeking love, but the core issue was lack of self-love and what they allowed in their lives to feel loved.

A successful entrepreneur spent 19 years in an abusive marriage before she realized that the business failures she experienced during those same years, were the result of a hostile home environment.

A gifted poet earns a meager income because she cannot consider it possible to make a living saying yes to her art. Miraculously she now has regular reading gigs.

A much-loved and gifted body worker just realized her worth and what she did for nearly a decade to prove herself otherwise.

One of them found herself having to reopen a divorce settlement while ensuring the safety of her children, and holding a full-time job. She is coming through stronger and wiser.

A gentle soul broke through a very difficult family legal dispute across continents while warding off barbs from her local angry ex-husband and finding the strength to ground her children in love. Today she is on the other side of these challenges and thriving.

After a very long and loveless marriage, a very talented woman found herself reviving a career she thought lost, earning a good living, receiving praise for her work and enjoying life as never before.

Actually, what the all had in common was that each discovered that they had been living their life according to expectations they gathered from others and thought that they were her own.

They allowed others, mostly men, to dim their light, and it took adversity and in some cases tragedy, to see that there was a rainbow emanating from their center, that they could click their ruby slippers to not only break through relationships and situations that no longer served them, but could make their own dreams come true.

They each found that they were more than good enough; they were awesome!

Hope replaced fear and uncertainty and each without hurrying, found themselves dwelling in acceptance and not defeat.

They found their true voice, the voice that comes from their hearts, decided to heed it and live knowing that life loves them and supports them.

What they now do for love is to love themselves unconditionally.

I want to thank my dear friend, mentor and fairy godmother Kimberly Ward Manning (http://www.kimberlywardmanning.com) for her keen listening and for encouraging me to write about this prescient issue. I love her unconditionally!

Embracing Grace

Embracing Grace by Lidia Kenig-Scher
Embracing Grace by Lidia Kenig-Scher

It is how I create and teach others to create. Embracing Grace is an attitude of openness to the realm of the unknown with innocence and trust. It is also a heightened state of alertness to what is there in the present moment and allows me to discern the motivations behind the choices I make.

When I paint I am fearless

Assuming total responsibility for all of my choices, I acknowledge its results with acceptance and non-judgment. The resulting artwork is an example of how lovingkindness colors—pun intended–a life situation and assists I the painter and you the viewer to examine the completed piece, apply its lesson to the particular situation and provoke growth.

When I paint I am Buddha

Each year, as part of a mastermind group, I select a theme to guide my intentions and inspire my goal setting to experience my best year yet. Even though I have been successful planning this way, I always feel that goals are restrictive and intentions are time-sensitive.

Foregoing goals I decided to apply what I learned through creating art and live my whole life with one intention: Embracing Grace.

Naturally, my buddies wanted examples of how the theme would apply to mundane experiences fraught with relationships, weather, unexpected events and the normal ups and downs of living.  I replied that by embracing grace, I perceive every moment as a gift to unwrap so that their request for an expanded perspective most likely implied that I too needed to flesh it out.

Thus I posited that if I live my entire life steeped in utter curiosity, as when I paint, I would best learn how to be a force for goodness at this time in history; my only goal.

As such, I see the timing to work on a piece or begin new art as being always perfect. Colors and technique simply show up, and whatever else I may be guided to do, I know that I will find it in the art store, or the market, on the street or in the basement.

The right numbers of students appear for a class, and the methods and techniques I need to teach are effortlessly communicated yielding amazing artwork even from people who never painted.

When not enough students enroll in a scheduled course, it most likely indicates that a change of direction is in the offing, or that this is not a good time to hold this class. Soon I am offered a new project or my participation in an auspicious event becomes possible because the class was cancelled.

It is at these times that I am able to perceive my interconnection with Spirit and how I fit in the Divine plan. I see that I am not accidental and nor is anyone else. Whatever I do, say and think at any time is important. If I were not painting, or teaching, or being with a friend, or attending to a repair person, or cooking, or walking at that moment, existence would miss me.

Osho said that a feeling of joy and fulfillment arises when we become aware that each of us is crucial for the proper functioning of the universe. It means that we are “related to existence, and existence cares for [us]… “and this gives us “dignity”.

As I was painting this weekend, I felt the hands of existence guiding me to visually portray these feelings and afterwards, in meditating with the art, I realized that by respecting my dreams and desires, assuming the responsibility to pursue them, owning my choices, and choosing how I perceive my dreams’ unfolding also means accepting how my choices affect others.

Grace is a birthright and by embracing this I lovingly trust that others are also capable of making good choices for themselves in their own time.

When I paint Grace is in charge

And in living I pause often and yield to my intuition. I take inspired action, watch what happens and monitor my thoughts to maintain alignment with my stated purpose; to be a force for goodness at this time in history.

When I paint I am blessed

When I embrace grace I live a blissful life and I am a force for goodness!

Try it for yourself; I trust that you can Embrace Grace now!

Is it Mostly About Endings?

LauraC Door Protector by Lidia Kenig-Scher

The woman who installed this door protector in her home approximately a month ago wrote that so far, this has been mostly a journey about significant endings. She noticed which relationships or aspects of some of these liaisons drained her energy, and resolved to keep clear boundaries around them.

Laura C.  knows that she is making room for new relationships, situations, and opportunities and is quite passionate about it.

As she began to consciously focus on self-love, new levels of healing became available to her.  Deeply buried feelings of anger arose, yet she was able to move through the pain and shift it into hopefulness.

And then Laura noticed an increase in physical energy which enabled her to accomplish new tasks, entertain new business ideas and spontaneously start a powder room remodel on her own. Wow!!!

The powder room Laura considers symbolic of her brave and fresh outlook on life. She loves the creative aspects of the project, trusts that she will be able to complete it and find help if needed and revels in the courage it took to undertake it.

Above all, Laura trusts the unseen influences at work in her life sensing their protective and benevolent energies around her.

The divination that preceded the creation of this Door Protector guided me to provide lots of Water energy. This element represents our emotional intelligence beckoning us to accept our feelings and integrate them into the fabric of our lives.

Our life journey moves along like frothy water sprays that delights us, or like high waves by exciting us. The gentle undulating movement works with the tides and the wind yielding to wakes. “The higher the wave goes”, said Osho, “the deeper is the wake that follows it. One moment you are the wave, another moment you are the hollow wake that follows.”

Water cannot forever freeze as a wave, nor always be the wake. It moves along by virtue of being in continuous relationship with the elements. So it is that we move forward in life and experience growth through our human relationships.

Our natural ability to thrive depends on the emotional charge we invest in relationships and the levels of attachment we spend in maintaining them to make them into what we think they should be.

When we mirror the ocean we count on the variables for growth and transformation. We accept who and what we encounter expecting to find jewels after the storm. We trust that even when we can’t see land, the sea will carry us to the shore and witness a new dawn.

In the sacred art, Tourmalines of various colors and energetic properties bob above the waves easily and gracefully, surrounded by a golden bubble. These crystals were included to remind Laura that she will find the jewels of adventure, abundance, love, joy, peace and wellness by deepening her meditation practice and staying fiercely present to variables.

The 9 butterflies streaming from the mantra represent Spirit’s guidance whispering that Grace is a birthright. The mantra itself broadcasts truth, foretells of a magnificent dawn always rising to summon courage, unleash her creativity and live the life she came here to live.

Laura C is not seeking to know what her passion is. She is allowing her heart to speak by doing what she loves, taking time to savor both the waves and the wakes of her journey, feeling the wind as she looks for the jewels in the endings and expecting the sun to rise by passionately delighting in the possibilities.
